It's not Fabio Jakobsen's Tour de France yet. The Dutchman from Soudal-Quick Step is one of the favorites for the mass sprints, but after slightly disappointing fourth place in stage three, Jakobsen didn't improve his result in stage 4 as he hit the deck after contact with Alpecin-Deceuninck riders.
Team boss Patrick Lefevere provided Sporza with a quick update on the rider's situation. "He has abrasions on his elbow, shoulder and back," Lefevere gives a first update on the condition of his rider.
"Julien wanted to bring him forward, because the team was too far. They could get out with just the two of them, which is logical because no team wants to make room, of course," said Lefevere. "Fabio looked forward to see if he could move up on his own and just then Mathieu and Jasper came from right. He touched his front wheel or Fabio touched his rear wheel," Lefevere explains the cause of the fall.
