In response to the
UCI’s concerns, Bahrain Victorious sports director Milan Eržen said “Rudy Project, not us, went through all the procedures, the crash test and everything. There’s no way we would race with a helmet that’s not been through the tests”.
The helmet had been approved by the
UCI roughly ten days prior to its first appearance in a WorldTour event at
Tirreno-Adriatico, with Eržen stating that “our helmet is by the rules. We sent for approval with the UCI, and we got approval. That’s it”.
