OFFICIAL: For the first time in Tour de France history, 2024 edition steps away from Paris and heads to Nice

The rumours had spread like wildfire and this week it had virtually been confirmed by a report from Gazzetta dello Sport that the ending of the 2024 Tour de France had already been agreed on to finish away from Paris for the first time in a long time, in order to have the finale in the southeastern city of Nice.

This will be the first time in history the race will finish away from Paris and it's surrounding suburbs. The official Tour de France account has shared this morning the news that on the 21st of July 2024 the Tour will have it's finale in Nice - after months of rumours. The finale is expected to be in the famous Promenade des Anglais avenue by the Mediterranean sea.

This is largely due to the Olympic Games which are set to take place in Paris in 2024 and although not directly colliding, the logistic strain behind hosting the Tour finale and the Olympics race in such proximity drove the race organizers to seek other options. With this golden opportunity, it has been the city of Nice - where many pros live, alongside the Monaco area - which has been chosen.
