Milano-Sanremo should start from Pavia, 35 kilometers south of Milano, in 2024

Milano-Sanremo will not start from Milan this year either. The first monumental classic of the season will move to Pavia in 2024, Het Laatste Nieuws reports.

Pavia is a city of about 80,000 inhabitants, 35 kilometers south of Milano. This is not the first time that 'La Primavera' hasn't started in Milan. Last year the riders took off from Abbiategrasso, twenty kilometers west of Milano.

Because the start is now in Pavia, according to HLN, there is a chance that the riders will have to cover even more kilometers towards the finish this year. Last year the participants arrived after a race of 294 kilometers.

Defending champion at Milano-Sanremo is Mathieu van der Poel. The Alpecin-Deceuninck rider soloed to victory last year after a successful attack on the Poggio.
