Jumbo-Visma will in the next few days get together in Spain to work on the first team training camp of the winter, but some plans are already very much done. The Dutch team already has a provisional list of riders who will race the Tour Down Under and they will have high ambitions.
This is because new signing Loe van Belle will very likely be there, and has recently gone on a podcast where he revealed the riders that should join him. A modest team with plenty youngsters, but nevertheless one that can fight for victory. Milan Vader, Robert Gesink, Johannes Staune-Mittet, Lennard Hofstede and Mick van Dijke are set to join the 21-year old, with Vader as the team leader following his win at the Tour of Guangxi which displayed his abilities in the shorter climbs.
"We are there for two and a half weeks, so we are going there well prepared," van Belle said in an interview with the Clubhuis Team Lucas. "We'll be there ten days in advance. Milan is going for the classification with ambition, we think he can also achieve a good result there."
Although he says he's evolving in all terrains, he has a special connection with the cobbled classics, and that is where he will put his priority in the coming seasons. "I always loved that classics. In last year's GP Denain I had to check on my own, but in the last eighty kilometers it was so easy on the cobblestones... In the first year I have the objective to learn as much as possible from those great men: how they tackle those races and move through the peloton, for example the Kwaremont or Molenberg. That's a different level."
