A thrilling sprint concluded the fourth stage of the
CRO race between Bahrain Victorious duo
Jonathan Milan and Matej Mohorič and B&B Hotels p/b KTM rider
Axel Laurance. The winner was determined by a photo finish, and Laurance finally achieved his first professional win.
The weather was not forgiving today, and it showered for hours which made the final kilometres very tricky and slippery. Milan was leading the peloton, but a crash forced him to slow down. “When the guy crashed in front of me, I had to avoid him, and my chain went down. I tried immediately to restart and to move on as much as possible before the finish line," said Milan.
However, that one mistake cost him the crucial time he could have used to take the lead and get his third victory in the tour. “ But it was too late, and Axel Laurance (B&B Hotels) made an amazing sprint. He was one of the best, so congrats to him. I’m happy because I also tried my best on a tricky final,” concluded Milan. Though he may have lost the stage, he still holds the top position in GC.
