Mikel Bizkarra puts Euskaltel-Euskadi on the map at Tour of the Alps GC fight

The Tour of the Alps starts this Monday, April 17, with Euskaltel Euskadi among the invited teams. The Basque team is bringing a competitive squad to the mountain race with which they hope, as always, to put up a good fight in the race.

Mikel Bizkarra, who has finished near the top 20 in both the Itzulia and the Volta a Catalunya and who finished tenth in the Tour of Rwanda, will be the leader of the orange squad along with the consolidated veteran Luis Ángel Maté, who is sure to get into as many breakaways as he can.

Bizkarra talks about the team's objectives for the Tour of the Alps: "We hope to be among the first in the general classification and to compete in the stages. It won't be easy, but we'll try". The Basque climber finished 13th in the selective opening day of the Alpine race and sits 41 seconds behind race leader Tao Geoghegan Hart in the overall classification.
