Stage 1

John Degenkolb was involved in a crash pre-stage during recon, but the full peloton navigated to the finish line on the opening day. Three XDS Astana rider crashed during the stage, but finished the race. Groupama-FDJ United also saw two riders crash - Guillaume Martin and Clement Berthet fell but finished the stage. The French team later confirmed that Berthet would abandon before stage 2.

Stage 2

With Berthet a DNS at the start of the day, no other rider departed on stage 2. There were a couple of crashes however, with the likes of: Kelland O’Brien, Robbe Dhondt, Aaron Gate, Biniam Girmay, Silvan Dillier, Maxim Van Gils, Anthon Charmig and Dorian Godon involved.
