For a few days it has been a given that
Matteo Jorgenson will ride next season for Jumbo-Visma. He finishes his contract at the end of the year and
Movistar Team cannot compete financially with the Dutch giant.
Coinciding with these rumors the American cyclist posted a thread on Twitter in which he claimed to have spent his entire salary on his performance: "I can now say that I have spent every penny of my salary so far this year on my own performance. Between solo camps, tt gear, nutrition, massages and motorpacing; it's all made me better and compounded on itself."
In the thread he also thanked his sport director Patxi Vila and his Movistar Team teammates for their support. However, in social networks the thread was taken as an attack on Movistar Team for not providing him with the necessary means to improve his performance. Thus, Jorgenson has returned to Twitter to deny the major and ensure that Movistar Team is an enviable team:
"I want to be clear, as it seems that many people are taking it badly: @Movistar_Team has supported me tremendously and continues to do so. Their structure is a place I have, and any rider can grow tremendously.
I just wanted to answer a question that I get a lot."
