Marianne Vos takes victory on rapid stage 3 of La Vuelta Femenina as Jumbo-Visma domination continues

Marianne Vos took her first individual La Vuelta Femenina victory and consolidated her overall race on a rapid day's racing that finished way ahead of schedule as Jumbo-Visma continued to dominate.

The longest stage of the ninth edition of the Vuelta Femenina, a mass sprint was also expected, similar to stage two.

With the wind blowing as the finale of the day's action neared. Marianne Vos took the win at the intermediate sprint and extended her overall lead of the race courtesy of the six bonus seconds on offer.

Echelons were forming behind the 30-woman group that lead the race and included overall leader Vos, world champion Annemiek van Vleuten, the all-conquering Demi Vollering and yesterday's stage winner Charlotte Kool.

One of the notable women who had missed out was the wearer of the Mountains Jersey, Jade Wiel.

With 10km to go the gap between the leading two groups had reached over a minute meaning it basically game over for the echelons behind.

With a raging tailwind, the riders reached the 1km to go marker. Vos kicked first and unlike yesterday Kool was unable to come around this time. Also similar to yesterday, Chloe Dygert had to settle for third in the final sprint.
