Mathieu van der Poel becomes ambassador for Lamborghini

One of the biggest names in cycling, Mathieu van der Poel has continued to improve his brand by signing a deal with the famous car maker Lamborghini as an ambassador for the company in Antwerp.

"Excited to become ambassador for Lamborghini Antwerp," the 28-year-old Dutch superstar revealed on his official Instagram account with a picture of himself posing next to one of their top-of-the-range supercars. Van der Poel has long been an admirer of beautiful sportscars so the deal between one of the fastest men of two wheels and one of the fastest car makers in the world makes perfect sense.

Currently resting up after a busy and successful spring Classics period, the Alpecin-Deceuninck rider will be back in action next at the Tour de Suisse as he begins preparing in earnest for this year's edition of the Tour de France.

So far this year van der Poel has been in excellent form, adding another Cyclocross World Championship to his palmares and achieving success at both Paris-Roubaix and Milano-Sanremo. So good have van der Poel's legs been this season that one reply to his Instagram post cheekily asks, "can it match your horsepower?" In relation to the supercar the Dutchman poses next to.
