Mads Pedersen looses key domestique as Covid-19 strikes Trek - Segafredo

Covid-19 has taken another rider out of the Vuelta a Espana, as Trek - Segafredo's Daan Hoole returned a positive test this morning and will not take to the start of stage five, a blow to the support of Mads Pedersen.
Hoole, racing his first Grand Tour, has seen his race end prematurely. Over the first three days of racing outside the team time-trial he's played a key leadout role for Pedersen in both bunch sprints, and has also helped control the race yesterday as the Dane climbed to an impressive second place in Laguardia.

Any athlete treating this remotely like an amateur sport (in terms of weight training, nutrition, lack of altitude camps, and so on) will not succeed. - MSR no competition? From the Cipressa onward, that was the most amazing MSR finish I've ever watched! Same with Paris-Roubaix, which together with Flanders had the racing start much, much earlier than before. - He and Pogacar both have taken insane risks on descents, particularly in time trials. I have to imagine most cycling fans would be happy to see them back off a bit.
