The first stage of the Tour of Switzerland for women was won by Lucinda Brand. The Dutchwoman beat Clara Koppenburg and Pauline Rooijakkers in a sprint to secure victory.
The women's Tour of Switzerland kicked off Saturday evening with a circuit in and around Vaduz. A 4.6-kilometer circle had to be completed ten times, bringing the total amount of kilometers to 46. Each lap had a 500-meter rise at a rate of 5.5 percent. Clara Koppenburg and Paulina Rooijakkers broke away early in the race. Lucinda Brand jumped to the lead with thirty kilometers to go. It was a close call and Brand came out on top. Koppenburg finished in second, with Rooijakkers coming in third.
