Luca Mozzato has been one of the headliner with B&B Hotels-KTM this year and with a contract until 2025 he was expected to be a crucial part of the French team in the coming seasons. However, as the team's ambitious plans come to an end, he is on his way out.
Mozzato has signed with B&B Hotels in 2020 and has since developed into one of it's leaders. Although he has not yet won as a pro rider, Mozzato has finished four times in the Top10 of the Tour de France this year and finished second in races such as the TroBro Léon and Marcel Kint Classic. In the last UCI update he sat in 66th position and has almost the double of the UCI points of the team's second best scoring rider (Axel Laurance), illustrating his role in the team.
As the team looked to get a significant boost in financing, he was set to meet new leaders such as Mark Cavendish and Cees Bol, however the team has now failed to find sponsors to give the necessary finances to help the team with it's ambitions, and it's reported that the team is currently looking to hold on in pro cycling with a continental license.
However, all riders were given freedom to pursuit contracts elsewhere. Whilst Ramon Sinkeldam was immediately signed by Alpecin-Deceuninck, most will struggle to find a contract this late in the year. Mozzato is not one of those however, with La Télégramme reporting he is in contacts with Trek - Segafredo. Recently, he's also had talks with Arkéa Samsic who are rising to World Tour level, assuring that a position at the top level remains for the Italian.
