Louis Meintjes undergoes successful surgery after abandoning Tour de France following mass crash

A three-time top 10 finisher at the Tour de France, Louis Meintjes was sadly forced to abandon the 2023 edition of the race after being caught up in the mass crash on stage 14 on Saturday.

Having fractured his collarbone after hitting the deck hard, the 31-year-old South African has now begun on the road to recovery, after undergoing a successful surgery his team, Intermarché-Circus-Wanty have now thankfully revealed in a post on their official Twitter account.

"Great news: Louis Meintjes underwent successful surgery to his collarbone in Berlin on Sunday evening & has immediately started the recovery process," read his team's official announcement. Fingers crossed it won't be too long before we see the former Vuelta a Espana stage winner back in the peloton once again.
