Lotto Soudal are climbing up the ranks and out of the relegation zone, and today they will be fighting for an important win which can besides having them rack up important points, it can also see them in the national jersey for a year.
And in plan for the battle, the Belgian team will take 15 riders to fight for the jersey. Lotto had an initial plan of 21, but only 15 will be at the start. Teams such as Alpecin-Deceuninck, Bingoal Pauwels Sauces WB, Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl Team, Intermarché - Wanty - Gobert Matériaux, Sport Vlaanderen - Baloise and Tarteletto - Isorex will be taking similar numbers, to make up for what should be a chaotic race with a few teams having an overwhelming numerical advantage that may see a sprint be a very complicated scenario.
Arnaud De Lie will be the leading figure in the team, as a proven winner over the last few months the 20-year old neo-pro is a top sprinter in Belgium despite the tough competition. The race is likely to be quite open though, but Lotto has riders such as Tim Wellens, Victor Campenaerts, Philippe Gilbert, Brent van Moer and Florian Vermeersch who are experienced and strong classics riders which provide plenty leverage to try and take the win.
