Mikel Landa will ride the Clásica San Sebastián and the
Vuelta a Burgos in anticipation for the Vuelta a España. The Basque climbers rode to a successful first half of the season, and he will be looking to replicate the formula into his home Grand Tour.
In an interview with 'AS', Landa justified that “I am tired after the Giro. So I'm not in the condition to race on Sunday. I then also skip the Tour, as was agreed at the beginning of the year. The Vuelta is still my big goal," he confirmed.
The first three stages of the race will take place in the Netherlands, before the riders travel back to Spain and straight onto familiar roads in the Basque Country where the riders will ecounter their first climbs. “A very difficult ride. We have just come from the Netherlands, so everyone will be motivated to win that stage.”
The Vuelta a España will start in the 19th of August and Landa will be contesting the overall classification after bouncing back to ride into a third place at the Giro d'Italia this year.
