Stage 6 of the
Giro d'Italia Donne proved to be a complicated day for a few GC contenders including yesterday's stage winner Sarah Gigante. It was a day with a few climbs but it was the race's strongest sprinter,
Lorena Wiebes, who came out of the day with the win.
Wiebes was the strongest out of the short group that made it to the line at Monselice. The European Champion held on bravely throughout the day and then beat Marianne Vos in the final sprint. Marlen Reusser held on to the race lead, with Elisa Longo Borghini following closeby. Anna van der Breggen took advantage of the splits to climb into third in the overall classification.
