One of the most legendary figures in the sport of cycling
Eddy Merckx is back at home after spending the last few days in hospital following successful intestinal surgery.
The five-time
Tour de France and five-time Giro d'Italia winner was rushed to hospital on March 26th according to reports by HLN, where the 78-year-old quickly underwent surgery in the early hours of the 27th and had "a significant part of his intestine removed."
Although no quotes from the great man are posted, HLN report that Merckx informed them how he awoke in such excruciating pain that his wife rushed him to the emergency room at his local hospital with doctors quickly seeing to him and operating.
Thankfully, there was never any life-threatening danger to Merckx and the Belgian can now rest easy at home in order to hopefully make a full recovery.
Tilted intestine? Is that what horses suffer from?
If a significant part is removed no wonder he lost weight. The intestines weigh about 3,5kg at 6-7m long.
Age well now Eddy, the world’s not ready to lose you.
That's a good news
