Following the rumours of INEOS Grenadiers' interest over Remco Evenepoel, alarms quickly sounded off in Belgium regarding the new World Champion's future. However, that is being secured by the team, Patrick Lefevere himself confirms.
Upon being asked by reporters about the possibility, Lefevere said in a recent interview that it "will not happen. It's too stupid for words." He also informed that "I happen to have dinner with Patrick on Thursday and we're going to discuss how we're going to go about it all in the coming weeks: the ceremony in Brussels, that race in Binche, and so on."
The manager of the Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl Team has shared a picture on Instagram with Evenepoel and his father - and agent - Patrick, where the connections between all parties seem to remain as tight as ever.
After being brought up to the Elite ranks and trained - physically and psychologically - Evenepoel has this season finally been able to put on a set of performances that his potential had hinted at in the past, winning inbetween others the Liège-Bastogne-Liège classic, the Vuelta a Espana and the World Championships. The Belgian is also set to get married in just over a week, days after debuting his rainbow jersey at Binche - Chimay - Binche.
