There are few certainties in life. Death, taxes and Team SD Worx - Protime winning stages of the Itzulia Women. On the opening stage of the 2024 edition, Mischa Bredewold made it seven successive stage wins for the team at the race in a run stretching back three years.
"It's really crazy. They just told me in the press conference that we've won all the stages," reflected the European champion in her post-stage interview. "It was a really good day, the team were incredible and they were the perfect support for me. The leadout was really good and I'm really grateful for their confidence in me and their support. My first victory in this jersey so I'm really happy for that."
In the end, Demi Vollering was the one to give Bredewold the last turn of the leadout, with the recent La Vuelta Femenina winner actually finishing 3rd on the day herself.
"We were racing really openly. We don't have one leader here," Bredewold explains of the Team SD Worx - Protime tactics. "At the Vuelta there was a lot more pressure and expectations but it's nice to ride more freely here, also for Demi. She can enjoy it a bit more here and try some things, that's also our strength."
