Team SD Worx - ProTime have continued their dominance over the short history of the Itzulia Women with victory from a bunch sprint on stage 1 of the 2024 edition through Mischa Bredewold.
With the duo of Stine Dale and Valentina Cavallar around 45 seconds clear heading into the final 30km, the chances of the peloton being denied looked slim. On multiple occasions in the final 20km, Demi Vollering herself went on the attack, ending the hopes of the breakaway and ripping apart the peloton behind.
Despite more repeated attacks before the finale though, it was the expected bunch sprint that would decide the day. In the fight for the line, Movistar Team were in control at the front for Arlenis Sierra but as the sprints launched it was Vollering again who'd positioned at the front, leading out Mischa Bredewold who took the stage.
