"It was a bit stupid" - Visibly emotional Demi Vollering regrets bad tactics in Liege-Bastogne-Liege Femmes finale

Looking for a historic third Liege-Bastogne-Liege Femmes victory, Team SD Worx-Protime leader Demi Vollering was forced to settle for third spot on the final podium this Sunday afternoon.

"I felt really good today and I was again in a position to win," a visibly emotional Vollering reflected in her post-race interview afterwards. "I just couldn't do it because I left myself a bit too much in the sprint. It was a bit stupid."

Coming into the finale in a lead group of six, Vollering was eventually outsprinted by race winner Grace Brown and runner-up Elisa Longo Borghini. "I felt so good in the sprint. I should have gone much earlier," the Dutchwoman continues. "I had good legs but I didn't use them in the final and that's a bit stupid."
