Tadej Pogacar is currently under a few contract rumours. It is said that INEOS Grenadiers contacted the Slovenian's agent, but equally UAE Team Emirates already look to renew with him even further possibly into 2029. He discusses that and Primoz Roglic's transfer to BORA - hansgrohe.
"This is not the time to think about my contract," Pogacar responded, in an interview with In de Leiderstrui. "I still have a long commitment with UAE Team Emirates and I feel super good with the team, with which we have become the best team in the world for the first time. Since the beginning of the year, we were already working on that. There are still some races, so we still have to finish it. I'm going to watch that with crossed fingers."
He's referring to the UCI rankings, in which UAE Team Emirates puts in a lot of focus to win. That is not the case with the other teams in the leading spots and at the time being the team carries the advantage. Pogacar did his share, but personally he now looks towards 2024. There he will face a new challenge. Besides taking on Jumbo-Visma and Jonas Vingegaard once again, now Primoz Roglic is added as a wildcard, leading BORA - hansgrohe.
"Anyway, it's interesting to see what has happened, but I think with the different strong teams, it could be very exciting in the Tour de France and other races," Pogacar says of the transfer that has marked this transfer season the most - so far. "But for that, we will have to wait until next season."
