Is 2024 Tadej Pogacar the best so far? "The feeling on the bike is a lot better compared to previous years"

Tadej Pogacar is so far having an explosive start to the 2024 season, dominating Strade Bianche and so far the Volta a Catalunya too. There are questions on whether he already is at his best level and there are positive signs.

At the start of today's Catalunya stage, which ends atop Port Ainé, the UAE Team Emirates rider told his thoughts: “Today is a completely different day. Many riders will choose to attack. It is therefore more difficult to control. We will do our best to stay together and then start the final climb as fresh as possible.”

Yesterday at Vallter 2000 the Slovenian dominated the uphill finish and if nothing goes wrong, he is the ultimate favourite and is riding without too much pressure. He won with an impressive gap over Mikel Landa and that, together with his astonishing Strade Bianche ride, it makes it a question on whether he is at his best level.

He responds to that: “When I look at my wattages, they are very good. The feeling on the bike is a lot better compared to previous years," he admits. Ahead of a very important Grand Tour campaign with a Giro d'Italia debut and a return to the Tour de France, these are positive signs for the 25-year old.
