Laurens de Plus' plans for the Grand Tours in 2024 have not yet been decided but one thing has. The Belgian will make his debut at the
Tour of Flanders this weekend as he fills in for
INEOS Grenadiers' recent injuries.
“It will be Elia Viviani racing, both Connor and Ben Swift. We also have Magnus [Sheffied], and he’s riding well, and Laurens De Plus will be there," team DS Christian Knees shared to GCN. "He’s very excited and it’s his debut. He’s only raced one cobbled race in his life and he won it. It’s definitely a good team. We’re not one of the favourites but with our strengths, we can hope to play a part."
De Plus will be an interesting addition to the British team's lineup, who has lost it's leader and will be having alongside the Belgian, the likes of Ben Turner and Magnus Sheffield who may be able to fight for a position in the Top10 on a good day.
It will be an interesting challenge for the 28-year old who has not raced in the cobbles in years, but has a good past as he's won the 2019 BinkBank Tour in the year where he established himself as a quality figure within (at the time) Jumbo-Visma.
