Currently sitting in 13th position,
Aurélien Paret-Peintre is just twelve seconds off a first career Grand Tour top 10 finish. Entering the final week of the
Giro d'Italia, the Frenchman wants to continue impressing.
"To move up to the general standings, it's complicated at the moment. I'm too close to the lead to slip into the breakaway and hope to make up time this way," the AG2R Citroen Team leader revealed in a rest day press conference. "So I'm going to see what this Tuesday's stage will give and I hope there will be a nice explanation between the leaders to see where I am. If I lose time, I will try to slip into breakaways on Thursday or Friday to try to catch up and slip in like this in the top 10."
"Until now, I don't know if I will be able to reach the top 10 on the pedals. We haven't yet had a real explosion between the favourites," he continues. "If I manage to enter the top 10 on the pedals, it will really will be the bottom of the top 10."
