“If Almeida goes for bonus seconds, then I go for it" - Matej Mohoric ready for thrilling finale at the Tour de Pologne with top two tied on time

The 2023 Tour de Pologne's general classification has been left in an incredibly tense situation heading into what will surely be a thrilling final stage as both Matej Mohoric and Joao Almeida are tied on time.

“I am confident that I can defend the lead. If Almeida goes for bonus seconds, then I go for it,” the Slovenian of Bahrain - Victorious says defiantly to Wielerflits in his post-stage interview. “I think I can sprint faster with the bonus seconds sprints, but if they want to go for it, I'm happy to compete. Then we will fight for it to the finish.”

In a thrilling finale to stage 6, Mohoric was the last man out on course in the time-trial. With Almeida impressing with a second-placed finish on the stage, Mohoric was battling against the clock to keep a hold of the general classification.

"I know I have the best legs ever. I know I can do a good time trial, but I haven't trained much on it lately. But if you have good legs, it will come naturally,” he concludes.
