After the chaos of the opening stage at he 2025 Volta ao Algarve on Wednesday, the race will hopefully keep all the drama to an on-bike capacity on stage 2, as the riders face the first general classification test of the Portuguese stage race with a summit finish at the Alto Da Foia.
With a top quality field of starters at the Volta ao Algarve this year, front and centre of the fight for the stage win is likely to be a battle between former teammates Primoz Roglic and Jonas Vingegaard. The latter, is making no attempt to hide the fact he really wants a stage win to kick start his 2025 campaign. "I have to test myself and see where I stand in relation to the others," Vingegaard commented to Ekstra Bladet after the frantic end to the opening stage saw all the results of the day cancelled.
"I would really like to win, I won't hide that. We'll have to see how the legs are, but I'm going for it," continues the Danish Team Visma | Lease a Bike leader determinedly and confidently. "I think I'm riding well, and I had good legs today. So I'm looking forward to the next few days," Vingegaard concludes.
