"That was the start of a twelve-year pro career (2014-2026) that took me through top teams like BMC, Bahrain Victorious, Israel-Premier Tech, and
Cofidis. Wearing their jerseys was an absolute privilege. I look back with immense pride and gratitude on a career in which I was able to fulfill my absolute childhood dreams".
Dylan Teuns finishes his career at Cofidis
A packed palmarès for Dylan Teuns
Teuns truly came into his own at BMC, specially during the 2017 season where he won the overall classification at the Tour de Pologne, Tour de Wallonie and Arctic Race of Norway - proving himself to be one of the best puncheurs in the peloton.
But his career would go on to make bigger steps when in 2019, Teuns - racing for Bahrain now - took his first victory at the Tour de France, winning solo at La Planche des Belles Filles. In 2021, he would go on to win another mountain stage, this time in the Alps at Le Grand-Bornand.
Perhaps the biggest triumph in his career, as a Belgian rider, came the year after as he won the 2022 edition of La Fléche Wallonne ahead of Alejandro Valverde himself. His final victory as a professional came only weeks after at t he Tour de Romandie.
"I look back with pride at my most memorable victories:
My wonder weeks in 2017: thanks to three magical weeks, my win counter suddenly shot up to eight victories, with overall wins in the Tour de Wallonie, Tour de Pologne, and the Arctic Race of Norway!"
"La Super Planche des Belles Filles (2019): my very first stage win in the Tour de France".
"Le Grand-Bornand (2021): my second Tour stage. In the pouring rain, I managed to hold off giants like Pogacar".
"The Flèche Wallonne (2022) of course: the realization of my childhood dream. Winning on the slopes of the Mur de Huy and leaving the ‘king of the Ardennes’, Alejandro Valverde, behind me... Goosebumps!"
The 2022 Flèche Wallonne was the highlight of Dylan Teuns' career
15 years in the peloton for Teuns
The Belgian moved from Bahrain to Israel - Premier Tech then in mid-2022. In the spring of 2024 he finished eighth at the Tour of Flanders and second at De Brabantse Pijl, but was unable to raise his arms in glory.
In 2025 he signed a two-year deal with Cofidis, kicking it off with a second place at the Etoile de Bessèges - but couldn't turn it into a victory either. Despite
recent rumours that he could go on to join TotalEnergies, the decision was made to retire from the sport.
"I am proud of the versatility I was able to show: from a time trial victory in the Ruta del Sol to completing all five Monuments and all three Grand Tours. I stood on the podium of Il Lombardia (2020) and narrowly missed out on the podium at the Tour of Flanders (2024)," he added. "On top of that, I had the honor of wearing the iconic Belgian national jersey at four World Championships".
Teuns leaves behind a widely successful career, having raced through several generations. "To all the fans, teammates, and staff members who have backed me all these years along the road and in front of the screen: thank you! But a special thanks goes out to my parents, close friends, and girlfriend for having my back during the highs and the lows".
"Deep gratitude for my loyal, steady entourage over the years. Without you all, this dream would have never become reality," he concluded. "It is time for a new chapter, but the love for the bike remains forever. Merci!"
