After his second win in three days, Mads Pedersen has regained the Maglia Rosa at the 2025 Giro d'Italia. The Dane powered to the win on stage 3 ahead of Corbin Strong in a brutal final sprint to nudge back ahead of Primoz Roglic in the general classification.
Speaking afterwards, Pedersen was quick to pay tribute to his Lidl-Trek teammates, who worked hard at the front of the peloton throughout the day in service of the new race leader. "Having two victories and now back in the pink jersey is exactly what we wanted today. This was the plan this morning," Pedersen began in his post-race interview. "We wanted to put a good pace on the long climb, to control it for ourselves and give me a chance to breathe there so I didn't need to go over the limit."
"Everyone from the team did a super amazing job on the climb and before. From the climb, it was about controlling as far as we could and then it would be a drag race. It was exactly as we wanted it with Giulio Ciccone and Mathias Vacek giving me an amazing lead out," Pedersen continued, giving a special nod of gratitude to Ciccone. "Ciccone has ambitions somewhere else in the race but he was there to help me, that shows his character. He committed to the team and to helping me. It shows what we can do at Lidl-Trek. I can't wait to get to the mountains and give something back to Cicco."
