Aleksandr Vlasov found his superior in Primoz Roglic at the
Vuelta a Burgos. Nevertheless, the Russian GC rider of BORA-hansgrohe draws a lot of confidence from his second place in the run-up to the Vuelta a España.
"The guys brought me to the foot of the decisive climb very well," Vlasov compliments afterwards. On the Lagunas de Neila he was able to hook up with Primoz Roglic and Adam Yates, but he could not threaten the two in the sprint. "I had good legs and it looked promising. I had the feeling that I could go for a good result. However, Roglic and Yates were just that little bit faster in the uphill sprint."
"Nevertheless, I am very pleased with my performances this week. I am very satisfied with my current condition. In addition, I am happy to defend my second place in the general classification. It is a very strong result," concludes Vlasov positively.
Vlasov had to leave the Giro d'Italia ill earlier this year. His preparation for the Vuelta is already going well. For example, at the end of July Vlasov was already third on the podium in the Clasica San Sebastián won by Remco Evenepoel. In the Vuelta a Espana, the leader of BORA-hansgrohe will meet the Belgian again, just like Roglic, who turned out to be the strongest in Burgos.
