“I am very grateful for the trust they have shown me during these five years" - Orluis Aular sends message of thanks to Caja Rural after Trofeo Matteotti triumph

27-year-old Orluis Aular has been a leading light for Caja Rural - Seguros RGA over recent seasons. With his contract up at the end of the year and rumours of a move to the World Tour, the Venezuelan sent a message of thanks to his team following victory on Sunday afternoon at the 2024 Trofeo Matteotti.

“I am very happy to have achieved this victory here in Italy, in the Trofeo Matteotti," Aular reflects afterwards to Caja Rural - Seguros RGA's official website. "The team has been phenomenal, all the tactics that our director Rubén had suggested to us were fulfilled. The intention was to always have a rider in front to avoid working behind, it is a very tough race and that is how it has been done from the beginning. In the end I was there in the decisive part with Thomas Silva, who did a great job for me in those final kilometres, and the truth is that I am very happy to achieve this victory, both for me and for the team.”

In taking the 10th professional career, Aular may also be signing off with Caja Rural in style. “I am very grateful to the Caja Rural-Seguros RGA team for the trust they have shown me during these five years, and I am very happy with everyone, both my teammates and the staff," he concludes. "I think we have had a great team race and that is why we have managed to achieve the victory, which is very nice in this final stretch of the season.”

Although rumours of a potential move to Movistar Team have been circulating, as of yet there is nothing official. Neither though, is there any official announcement of a contract extension. With the CRO Race still scheduled on Aular's racing programme before the season is out, there is still more time to add further victories as well.
