An official proposal to have the Giro d'Italia finishing on the Passo Dello Stelvio - one of the highest and toughest ascents in the whole Alps - in 2025 has been made.
One of the counselors for the region, Massimo Sertori, has told Gazzetta dello Sport about the proposal that has been requested to the Giro d'Italia organization: "In 2025 we celebrate the 200th anniversary of the road over the Stelvio. I have also been in contact with the governor of the Alto Adige region, Arno Kompatchser."
And he has talked about a request that has been made in a meeting with Mauro Vegni: "We've officially asked Mauro Vegni [Giro d'Italia director] if the last stage of the Giro can finish atop the Stelvio."
This would come as a big surprise, and a major change to the structure of the race, which usually finished with a time-trial in the northern Italy region. Nevertheless, it is a possibility for the future, although a decision will surely take years to be decided.

Over the course of his career, he has conducted approximately 100 interviews across road cycling and cyclocross, ranging from one-to-one conversations and online formats to press conferences and on-site pre- and post-race coverage. His interviews include leading riders, team managers, and prominent figures within cycling media: Tadej Pogacar, Jonas Vingegaard, Mathieu van der Poel, Primoz Roglic, Wout van Aert, Joao Almeida and Tom Pidcock; managers like Patrick Lefevere and Joxean Matxin; and YouTube personality Bryan Kennedy (BKXC)...
Within 18 months of launch, he helped grow CyclingUpToDate’s English-language platform into one of the most-read cycling news websites, built entirely from the ground up. As both a professional journalist and lifelong cycling enthusiast, his focus remains on delivering accurate, timely, and well-contextualized coverage.

- At visma riders, coaches and staff are leaving mid contract its not hard to get their falling apart lol... If you can read they can win when the best dont show up. Giro and vuelta is secondary. Thats exactly what im saying their not top 3 anymore RBH and LIld have better rosters its just facts. - Ah yes, what a completely 'dismal' season Visma LAB have had. How terrible of them to casually win Paris-Roubaix, the Giro d'Italia plus 6 stages, Paris-Nice, Volta a Catalunya, Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne, the Tour of Denmark, and a staggering 7 stages plus the Green Jersey at the Vuelta, not to mention the myriad of other races they've bagged this season. If winning a monument and Grand Tour titles is a 'free fall,' half the peloton (including Ineos) would love to plummet off that cliff.
