Giro di Sicilia: 19-year old Fran Miholjević wins stage three

Fran Miholjević is another name from the new generation to take into account. The 19-year old Croatian got himself in the breakaway of the third stage of the Giro di Sicilia and took a breakthrough stage win after dropping his companions at the end of the hilly stage, taking a very important win for Cycling Team Friuli ASD.
Alessandro Iachi (Team Qhubeka), Veljko Stojnić (Team Corratec), Martin Svrček (Biesse - Carrera), Frederico Burchio (Work Service Vitalcare Vega) and Fran Miholjević (Cycling Team Friuli ASD) got themselves in the break of the day and ended up being in the right move.
Miholjević attacked the group with 12 kilometers to go and went solo into the win, his first in his pro career. The peloton behind stretched out in the wind and repeated hills, however there was no concerted chase to bring the youngster back, and with an incredible sustained power he got to the finish in Piazza Armerina in first place. He has jumped onto the overall lead of the race with this breakaway, as the Italian national team didn't seem concerned in preventing him from doing so.
Pier-André Coté and Filippo Fiorelli led the peloton home taking second and third place on the stage, The GC favourites arrived together, and will tomorrow be fighting for the GC win on the slopes of Etna.

- I don’t call the writers here journalists, they are at best paid posters, no more knowledgable than many of us. I certainly don’t agree with everything they say or portray but I do understand they have to provoke to make their hitherto business model sustainable. And as it isn’t possible to discuss with them, it’s more interesting, rewarding and instructive to pick points to discuss with people willing to engage. I choose and have my own reasons for positive of negative opinions on riders and engage when someone disagrees on those, not interested in engaging on other reasons. What I agree with or don’t is pretty irrelevant though, I think you’ll agree JV gets his fair share of lifestyle criticism (also here) so why should TP be exempt? - it is too simple to base improvement on points alone. Quick-Step lost a lot of points but might gain more wins and are shifting their focus. - All very sad. But you seem to be backing the journalists in generally demonising Tadej and canonising Jonas. This article is interesting though, and suggests Jonas is making very good financial decisions, acquiring luxury homes that he and his family are enjoying living in, and staying near family (also now in luxury homes) who can help with the kids.
