GC Update Tirreno-Adriatico 2024 stage 5: Jonas Vingegaard takes over race lead with impressive attack

The Tirreno-Adriatico 2024 has been practically sentenced this Friday, barring any surprises, after Jonas Vingegaard's spectacular solo attack 29 kilometers from the finish line that has placed the Visma - Lease a Bike star at the top of the general classification, with a big lead over his main pursuers: Juan Ayuso and Jai Hindley.

Up to this point, Vingegaard had been patiently waiting for his chance to blow the fight for the overall.
