Sonny Colbrelli went from glory to hell in just a few months and at
Paris-Roubaix in 2021, and in the week leading up to the 'Hell of the North' he hints at his compatriot
Filippo Ganna to be a contender for the win.
A few months later, on March 21, 2022, he finished second in the first stage of the Volta a Catalunya, but his heart stopped seconds after crossing the finish line and the rest is history: he managed to save his life, but had to leave professional cycling at the best moment of his career. He has lived with these two feelings, survival and nostalgia, ever since.

"I often touch, caress, look at the trophy, the stone that is given as a prize. From the way it is treated even by those who come to my house, it looks like a gold ingot, a precious stone. Then my hand goes to the defibrillator inside my body. I live with these two sensations," he commented with the colleagues of Gazzetta dello Sport.
Regarding the 2023 edition, the former Bahrain Victorious rider regretted not being at the start in Compiègne to fight with the big stars of the moment like Mathieu van der Poel or Wout van Aert and pointed out his compatriot Filippo Ganna as favorite: "I say Ganna. But I would have liked to challenge the stars".
