The modern La Vuelta Femenina has quickly established a clear pattern, dominated by the very best climbers and stage race specialists in the peloton. Demi Vollering claimed back to back victories in 2024 and 2025, underlining her status as the benchmark GC rider of recent seasons. Before that, it was Annemiek van Vleuten who set the standard, winning three consecutive editions between 2021 and 2023.

Reigning Tour de France Femmes champion Pauline Ferrand-Prevot arrives as the headline name. Leading Team Visma | Lease a Bike, she brings both climbing pedigree and the confidence of recent Grand Tour success, making her the natural reference point for the general classification.

Among those looking to challenge, Anna van der Breggen returns with leadership at Team SD Worx - Protime, offering proven stage race control and experience in high pressure scenarios. The parcours also brings riders like Gaia Realini and Evita Muzic firmly into contention.
