Filippo Ganna to skip 2024 Tour de France with preparation for Paris Olympics taking precedence

On stage at the presentation of the route and profile of the 2024 Giro d'Italia, Filippo Ganna announced his intention to ride the first Grand Tour of next year. One race it looks like he won't be taking part in however, is the 2024 Tour de France.

The 27-year-old, INEOS Grenadiers, time-trial specialist has raced five Grand Tours in his career but only once previously has he taken part in the Tour de France, racing the 2022 edition of the race. Speaking at 'Il Festival dello Sport' in Milan, Ganna announced his intention to attend other races next summer with the intention of better preparing to battle for Olympic Gold in Paris.
