La Gazzetta Dello Sport says Filippo Ganna likely to attempt the Hour Record on 23/24 August on the Grenchen 🇨🇭 track, same venue as Ellen van Dijk's attempt this Monday
It has been reported that Filippo Ganna will make his attempt at the Hour Record after the Tour de France this year, likely to be done either on the 23rd or 24th of August in the Grenchen Velodrome, Switzerland.
The idea has been in place for several months, with the two-time World time-trial champion admitting that he will make an attempt in the coming years, likely to take place in late 2022. With a long history on the track, and two TT world titles to his name, Ganna has been widely named as the most dangerous rider in the peloton to stand against the current record of Victor Campenaerts.
The Belgian rider set the record of 55.089Km/h in the 16th of April 2019, in the Aguascalientes velodrome in Mexico - which has been used in some attempts due to the altitude factor. Ganna will, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, not travel to Mexico but instead to the most popular destination of Grenchen in Northwestern Switzerland.
Grenchen will today receive Ellen van Dijk, who will be attempting to take the Women's World record today in a highly anticipated effort.
