Evenepoel confirms that "leaving Quick-Step has never been discussed"

Remco Evenepoel was taken under the wing of Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl Team and has finally delivered on the promise that his early racing years gave. He has been rumoured to be under the interest of INEOS Grenadiers, but a move is off the table he confirms.

"It is especially unfortunate that a rumor is almost made a fact, when that is not the case at all," Evenepoel said in a press conference leading up to Binche - Chimay - Binche, where he is set to debut his World Champion's jersey.

Last week texts between INEOS owner Jim Ratcliffe and Patrick Lefevere have hinted the interested from the British team's manager. Although it may have been on a light tone, the story quickly gained traction, with Lefevere also questioned on the possibility.

“I've never talked about leaving. Not against Patrick [Lefevere] and not against my own entourage. The subject of leaving Quick-Step has never been discussed and it will not be for the foreseeable future," Evenepoel himself confirmed.

"I'm very happy here and I've had great results this year. I have a lot of friends here and I get along really well with the teammates and the staff." He said that Quick-Step "is partly responsible for my performance and how I feel on the bike. I don't want to change that anytime soon," hence reassuring fans and journalists that there is no consideration of a move towards another team.
