Jumbo Visma rider Olav Kooij has won the Munsterland Giro. The Dutchman was the fastest amongst his rivals in the final sprint and managed to cross the finish line first. It is his 12th win this season.
The breakaway included Jesse de Rooij, Jannis Peter, Ole Theiler, Julian Borresch and Sebastian Niehues. The group of five worked together to gain over 4 minutes of lead at the start of the race.
However, the group was caught 25 kilometres before the finish line. Fredrik Ericsson controlled the last few kilometres but couldn’t hold it till the end. It was Olav Kooij who took the victory. Jasper Philipsen satisfied himself with silver, while Max Walscheid finished third.
