Enric Mas has finished third in the Volta a Catalunya 2025. The Mallorcan, who usually has problems to find the form in the first races every year, has made a very solid race in general terms and has finished the race only behind Primoz Roglic and Juan Ayuso.
The Movistar Team leader was happy after the race in statements to his team: "The overall performance has been very good, the team has been a hundred, not ten, they have helped me at all times."
The Spaniard has survived the echelons quite successfully, and showed strong level in the mountains. Today on the Montjuic circuit, the Movistar rider once again put on a strong performance, even attacking a struggling Ayuso's second place in the overall classification. Ultimately it did not work, but he held on to the podium against an equally strong Mikel Landa.
He insisted that he was very happy with his performance, which he considers the best of his career in Catalunya - a great sign of form, and acknowledged that his main goal for the beginning of the year is to arrive in great shape to compete in the Itzulia Basque Country over the next few weeks, where he should be amongst the main favourites as the likes of Pogacar, Vingegaard, Roglic, Evenepoel and Ayuso will all be absent.
"It's the first time in my life that I feel very good in a Volta a Catalunya and that's what gives me the motivation to keep working and to arrive in the Basque Country very well, which was my first goal of the year," he admits. Mas will race the Tour de France and Vuelta a España once again later in the year.
"That's what I wanted, to do a good Volta here and then a super Basque Country, hopefully we can recover well this week and whatever comes will be welcome".
