In the last few days it has been reported that ASO and Netflix are likely to sign a deal, alongside eight World Tour teams, to make a series revolving around this year's Tour de France which is similar to Formula 1's Drive to Survive. As the days go by, more details emerge on the project's plan.
The teams that will be involved in the project, if it goes forward, will be: Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl, Jumbo-Visma, INEOS Grenadiers, Alpecin-Fenix, Movistar Team, Groupama - FDJ, AG2R Citroën Team and EF Education-EasyPost. The report from Cyclingnews also points to UAE Team Emirates' rejection of being in the project after being asked, although "the door is open for participating in the future."
Teams were rumoured to be offered €50,000 for their participation in the project, in which several teams are said to be worried about the addition of a film crew during team's personal and important moments throughout the race. The exposure that would come from the project however, would be of high benefit for the sponsors of all teams present so it is expected that soon, the teams present in the series will be announced.
