Stage two of Vuelta a Burgos Feminas challenged ladies with a fast Alto de Rosales ascent (2.4 km a 6.3%). SD Worx - Protime's Demi Vollering fulfilled her role of a favourite on such finish and won the uphill arrival convincingly ahead of Évita Muzic and Karlijn Swinkels.
"It's always nice to win," Vollering begins her interview for Esencia Ciclista after the stage. "I had such a good leadout from my teammates. It was great to see them going full gas before the last climb. They really believed in me - that is always nice to feel that from your teammates. Then it was up to me to just finish it off."
Tomorrow's stage from Roa de Duero to Melgar de Fernamental should be one for the fast ladies including Vollering's teammate Lorena Wiebes who was already victorious on stage 1.
The final GC is likely to be decided on Sunday, when Alto de Rozavientos with sections nearing up to 15% will be a trial by fire for all the GC contenders, no less for Vollering. However there's still fifteen more kilometers to go from top of the climb meaning not all hope is lost if rider can't respond to an acceleration immediately.
