Demi Vollering crash update - FDJ-SUEZ address leader's Tour de France Femmes condition after fall before TV coverage

FDJ-SUEZ have provided a short update on Demi Vollering's condition after she suffered a crash during stage 3 of the Tour de France Femmes. The Dutch leader, and one of the general classification favourites, hit the deck before TV cameras started rolling on Monday.
Vollering was involved in the crash that many would have missed, but quickly returned to her bike and the peloton. She did not lose any time in the stage to her rivals in the favourites group as Kim Le-Court animated the finale, despite finishing 2:48 back from solo winner Sigrid Ytterhus Haugset.
Her team have indicated that she would be assessed in an interview after Monday's stage, and hope that all is well come the high-intensity effort of stage 4's time trial on Tuesday afternoon.
“She looks OK. We’ll try to see with the physio how she feels, but we have to do a checkup this evening and see how it goes tomorrow,” sports director Nicolas Maire told Cyclingnews.
In terms of the way the stage was raced, Maire described the game of showing your hand is similar to poker as a favourites stalemate helped Uno-X rider Haugset ride into the yellow jersey. FDJ tried to put Célia Gery in a breakaway but to no avail.

Complicated stage sees yellow slip away from favourites
“We were expecting a bit more from the stage, but I think at one point there is like a poker game, and nobody wants to play for the other, so we lost time.
“Uno-X played well and they deserve the win and the yellow jersey. The Tour is still long, and we’ll fight in the next day to come back in the GC, but yeah, we were expecting a bit more from this stage. We tried to be in the breakaway with Célia, but it didn’t work exactly as we wanted.”
He added: “There are a lot of riders like Le Court-Pienaar and Vos who can come here and play for a win, especially without Wiebes. So, I was expecting that they would chase a bit more."

Looking forward, Maire expects a strong Vollering time trial. However, the team have accepted that specialists in the discipline such as Marlen Reusser and Anna van der Breggen should gain a small advantage and they'll be looking at other general classification riders as the benchmark.
“I would say I expect a good TT from Demi, but we know that, for example, normally she will lose time on Reusser, on maybe Van der Breggen,” Maire said.
“Normally, she can win some seconds on some GC contenders, so that’s what we are looking for. If she plays really well, I think she can for sure try to be on the podium on this stage.”

- That’s a lot of assumptions but the 3 in a row combination has also already been achieved, not sure that would be specifically desirable to Jonas but am sure Pogi would love to have been the first/only to get all 3 GTs, something Jonas would also maybe have aimed for had Pogi not existed. Too late, too much strong competition to wear him out if they spread over the 3 tours which no doubt will happen eith each looking for a possible win plus probably tdf participation. - Totally ridiculous anyway, so many of the best at that age fade into anonymity. Not dure the selection process is that deeply developed, probably out of fear of losing out to another team.
