Davide Ballerini poised for Astana transfer after four years in Soudal - Quick-Step

After four seasons in Soudal - Quick-Step Davide Ballerini is to leave the Belgian team. With new sprinters showing up and the team's new focus on the Grand Tours, the Italian will be looking for success and leadership elsewhere.

Ballerini helped Evenepoel at the Giro d'Italia earlier this year, he is a quality rouleur however the team already has plenty figures to do the job. Throughout his years within the classics block he won such as the Omloop het Nieuwsblad and Coppa Bernocchi. A sprinter, it was his qualities as a classics rider and climbing resistance that saw him net wins against reduced sprint fields.

He moved from Astana back in 2020, and is will now return to the Kazakh team. According to Gazzetta dello Sport the move is almost certain to happen, amidst several new signings the team is bringing in. The team also has a solid Italian block including current national champion Simone Velasco.
