Criterium du Dauphine 2024 stage 6 Update - Primoz Roglic the new yellow jersey; Remco Evenepoel and Matteo Jorgenson follow

Stage 6 of the Criterium du Dauphiné 2024 promised a lot of excitement in the fight for the general classification: first high mountain stage and after the fifth day was suspended due to a massive crash in the peloton. As expected, the favorites had their chance. In the end, Primoz Roglic managed to take the victory in some heart-stopping final kilometers, and snatch the yellow jersey from Remco Evenepoel.

Therefore, we have a new overall race leader. Primoz Roglic will wear yellow on Saturday after his victory. The Slovenian BORA - hansgrohe rider has taken a 19-second lead over Evenepoel, now 2nd, and almost a minute over the provisional third, Matteo Jorgenson, who is 58 seconds behind the yellow jersey.

After the withdrawal of Juan Ayuso, Carlos Rodriguez is now the main aspiration of Spanish cycling for a great result in the general classification. The INEOS Grenadiers rider moves up to 6th provisional position, 8 seconds behind 5th, Aleksandr Vlasov, and 1 minute and 40 seconds behind leader Roglic.

Oier Lazkano, after a tremendous performance in the final climb, staying in the group of the favorites, has managed to stay in the Top 10 of the general classification. The Movistar Team rider is 8th, 2 minutes and 8 seconds off the lead, which he is not even aiming for.

The rest of the Top 10 are as follows: Derek Gee is 4th at 1 minute and 1 second behind Roglic; Rodriguez's teammate Laurens De Plus is just behind the Spaniard, 7th; Callum Scotson is 9th; and Jack Haig closes out the top classification with his 10th position.
