Bahrain-Victorious brings both its Basque leaders to San Sebastian. Pello Bilbao had a great Tour de France with stage win and a 6th overall. On the other hand Mikel Landa rode a grand tour to forget and will attempt to write a new chapter in his 2023 season.
Another name to keep an eye on is the Colombian talent Santiago Buitrago. The 23-year old climber returns to racing after very successful spring where he finished Liège-Bastogne-Liège in 3rd place and later won a stage at Giro d'Italia while finishing 13th overall. The Basque roads should suit him, but his shape after 2-month break is unknown.
Sports director Neil Stephens says it remains to be seen how both riders came out of the Tour: "We don't know how tired they are. It was a really tough Tour de France, so we hope they recovered a little bit from that. Pello will get a lot of support from us in this race. The same goes for Mikel, who wants to make up for his Tour."
Bahrain-Victorious lineup for Clasica San Sebastian:
Pello Bilbao, Mikel Landa, Yukiya Arashiro, Santiago Buitrago, Johan Price-Pejtersen, Jonathan Milan and Edoardo Zambranini
