Christophe Laporte in doubt but a possibility to race Paris-Roubaix: “We will know on Thursday" Visma confirm

Team Visma | Lease a Bike will start Paris-Roubaix without Wout van Aert and Jan Tratnik due to injury, and Tiesj Benoot due to option. Dylan van Baarle is far from his best form but is racing, the Dutch team is also gauging whether Christophe Laporte can return to competition or not.

“We will know on Thursday whether Christophe drives or not. In the coming days we will have to decide who exactly will ride Paris-Roubaix," team DS Arthur van Dongem told Wielerflits. "Julien Vermote and Tosh Van der Sande are on the reserve list, while Mick van Dijke replaces the injured Wout van Aert. We can decide exactly who will ride by Thursday at the latest. Only then will we do that. We will meet again that day and we will explore. In any case, Christophe is not there yet.”

Thursday the riders will be doing a recon of the cobbles in the 'Hell of the North' and there, the European Champion will understand whether he is race fit or not. Even if not in his best form, he could be a valuable asset for the Dutch team who is looking to still save their cobbled classics campaign.

Safe to say that luck has not been on Visma's side, but there is one final race where that can change and in Roubaix everything can happen! Many teams are currently travelling to the North of France to have a taste of what will be waiting for them this Sunday.
